The Accidental $1 Ikea Lamp Hack

Ikea Grono Lamp

We've all seen the Ikea Grono Lamp hacks everywhere on the Internet, so we thought we'd add one more to the never-ending list. The Grono lamp is an instant classic that is smooth frosted glass and square-ish in shape. The best part is the price, $6.99 each.

We purchased 2 of the small-sized frosted glass Grono table lamps from Ikea in College Park, MD. We also purchased 2 energy efficient light bulbs for them while we were there. Once we returned home and plugged in our Grono lamps we thought they were a little bright for our particular use as accent lighting.

Ikea Grono Lamp Hacked With a $1 Placemat

Not having any alternative light bulbs on-hand, we dug through our kitchen drawers and found 2 bamboo placemats we had earlier purchased at a Dollar Tree store. We wrapped the bamboo placements around the Grono lamps and used a small amount of floral wire in the back to keep the placemat snug.

The best part of this project is that you can easily un-hack the lamps and re-hack them again in another life.
